It seems he was expected though as there's a note for him on the desk. I've no idea who's house this is by the way, he just invited himself in here off screen. I clicked the screen to let him know I'm ready to play but he's taking his time putting the thing back into his hat. I took a quick break to write stuff down so he put his Walkman on! Probably to avoid having to listen to the theme tune that's still playing. It's still pretty much the 1993 game as far as I know, and is likely exactly what you'd get from GOG. I'll be playing the PC CD XP release through Scumm VM, just so you know. Here, have a YouTube link to the theme so you can permanently burn it into your own brain as well. I've played Simon the Sorcerer before, I've even beaten the thing (with the help of a walkthrough), but it's been a while and all I remember about it now is the pitiful Swampling inadvertently poisoning Simon with his terrible cooking, and the theme song. This is an entirely unrelated Simon who performs completely different sorcery. Simon the Sorcerer or Simon the Magician, in Latin Simon Magus (Greek Σίμων ὁ μάγος), was a Samaritan magus or religious figure and a convert to Christianity, baptised by Philip the Evangelist, whose later confrontation with Peter is recorded in Acts 8:9–24.īut that's entirely irrelevant as the game's got nothing to do with him. It's also got the subtitle The Original Adventure on my box, but I'm not calling it that. Go and Wishlist it on Steam right now. This week on Super Adventures I'm taking a quick look at classic PC and Amiga adventure game Simon the Sorcerer. Simon the Sorcerer – Origins is coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch in early 2023. Our goal will be to create a new world brought to life with beautiful modern visuals and all new gameplay mechanics to tell the untold story of Simon’s origins”. “It has been a long time wish of ours to revive one of the gaming industry’s best loved and iconic characters. “We are beyond excited to finally be able to announce Simon the Sorcerer – Origins and embark on the exciting development journey with Smallthing Studios” commented Leonardo Caltagirone, founder of Leonardo Interactive. By applying some modern visuals and cutting edge gameplay mechanics to the development of Simon the Sorcerer – Origins, this latest title should be highly appealing to fans of the original – as well as those from a new generation of gamers excited for the current revival of these classic franchises. Having paved the way for many of the beloved point and click graphic adventures that have been entertaining fans for three decades, it could be said that Simon the Sorcerer stole the hearts of gamers when it was released on MS DOS and Amiga – yep, we were Team Amiga back then. If you decide to drop in, you’ll find a game world which has been crafted with a modern visual style, filled with seamless realtime sequences, magic and puzzle solving tied together with an engrossing storyline – and yep, that will finally answer some important questions that were raised from the first game. Promising to bring a fresh, modern reimagining of the classic adventure game franchise, Simon the Sorcerer – Origins is the official prequel to the original Simon the Sorcerer game and transports players back to just a few weeks before the events of the first episode.
